Oh! Oh! I've got first comment! I'd like to reiterate Thom's point about us still being alive. We are, even if some of us had to move out of their apartments and still find time to pass midterm exams. Sorry everyone, but something had to give and it wasn't going to be my GPA.

Now, to Thom's question. I feel that being a skeptic is about looking at things unfiltered- without bias, agenda, or stigmas. It is also learning to recognize what needs a skeptical eye and what doesn't. In my life, I've spent a good deal of time applying my skeptical toolkit to religion. This is because by the very nature of faith, it is outside of rational and logical processes (I'm also fascinated by the entire concept of religion, but that's a little unrelated). While on the other hand, I would postulate there's no reason to be skeptical of the blueness of the sky. Ok, it's not a great example, but it's late and that's all I've got.

Don't knock it until you try it? Don't be ridiculous. It has been proven- in more countries than our own, might I add- that homeopathy is not a legitimate medical science. It fails to meet any scientific criteria, and these aren't just "Western" conventions- the scientific method is accepted and used world wide by credible scientists. Why? Because it works.

The scientific method doesn't have a Western bias or agenda, despite what you may believe. I personally do not think we're "the only fish swimming in the pond" as you put it, but I still know that homeopathy is bullshit. It has been proven that homeopathy has about the same effect at the Placebo effect (if you're unfamiliar with that: http://skepdic.com/placebo.html). So before you start criticizing our skeptical paradigm, perhaps you should take a closer look at your own.

Don't knock it unless you've tried it... ;)

Just because something doesn't follow our logical, Western, scientific methods of thought doesn't mean it can't work. We're not the only fish swimming in the pond, you know; just because we think we're the best and smartest fish doesn't mean we actually ARE the best and smartest fish.

By all means: be skeptical and ask questions. But understand also that your paradigm shapes your perspective.

I don't think you understand basic science. If there isn't even a molecule left of the drug, then it can't possibly cure anything, also the idea that like cures like is completely illogical. If I want to go to sleep, I'm not going to drink coffee. If I have a cold pepper isn't going to help me. Also there have been numerous and well controlled studies confirming that homeopathy doesn't work. In the end homeopathic remedies are water, and just water.

homoeopathy is a system that must be understood thoroughly.even though the medicines are diluted the, medicinal power still remains in the drug.its the quality of the drug that is curing the patient but not quantity.according to the system the drug acts on the root cause and removes the ailments caused by it.the symptoms which appear externally are the manifestations of the internal disease.if the internal derangement is corrected the external symptoms will go off automatically.
